As a vital part of the Catholic Church in East Tennessee, the mission of St. Mary’s School is to unite our students, families, teachers, and parish in providing a Catholic education in a Christ-centered environment, dedicated to academic excellence and promoting truth and charity in service to God and others.
To this end, we believe that…
- Instruction seeks to integrate Christian values and academic excellence in the Catholic tradition.
- Catholic education is a committed partnership between home and school in which respect, cooperation, communication, and a sense of shared responsibility create a dynamic and positive learning environment.
- Students begin to understand their relationship to the community through opportunities to live out their faith and to share their time and talents with others.
St. Mary's mission to encourage service to others includes:
- Middle school student mentoring of students in the primary grades
- Active student participation in St. Mary’s Church through altar-serving and choir
- Student Council-sponsored fundraising for local charities
- School-wide food drives for the St. Joseph Food Pantry
- Participating in the annual Knoxville Fantasy of Trees to benefit Children's Hospital
- Care for the environment through school-wide recycling
