Student Achievement
St. Mary’s students in grades one through eight participate each year in the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). ITBS is a series of norm-referenced standardized tests in academic subjects. (For more information about the ITBS, go to: http://www.riversidepublishing.com/products/itbs/index.html)

Based on the test scores of our students:

  • All students are classified as proficient or advanced (including those with learning disabilities) in all academic areas.
  • The State of Tennessee rates student academic achievement with a letter grade designation of A, B, C, D, or F. Overall, St. Mary’s students received an “A” in all academic subjects when using the same grading scale as the State of Tennessee.
  • In every subject at every grade level, students are performing on average at least one year above grade level.
  • 80% of students who complete Spanish I qualify to take Spanish II in high school.
  • 100% of students who complete Algebra I in their eighth grade year qualify to take Geometry I as high school freshmen.
